How to add and manage custom properties to your organizational chart

Any data can now be added to your organizational chart using custom properties.

Add custom properties directly to your org chart

1. Create a custom property using the org chart

 

Steps:

  1. Click the "properties" menu near the top right of your canvas
  2. Select "+ Add property"
  3. Click "Custom text property" on the dropdown
  4. Type in the name of your custom property and hit enter or return

 

 

2. Populate a custom field on your org chart

  1. Click on the "properties" menu and ensure that your custom property is enabled
  2. Click the available field on any position
  3. Type in a value
  4. Hit enter or return

 

 

 


 

 

Add custom properties using the people & positions table

 

 

In this section:

  1. Add a property to the people & positions table
  2. Populate a property on the people & positions table

 

 

Add a property to the people & positions table

  1. Click "view" and select "people & positions"
  2. Click the "+" icon on the right of the table
  3. OR Click the "properties" menu
  4. Select "+ Add a property"

 

 

 

Populate a property on the people & positions table

  1. Click on the "properties" menu and ensure that your custom property is enabled
  2. Click the available field 
  3. Type in a value
  4. Hit enter or return

 

 

 


 

 

Bulk import and populate custom properties to your org chart

 

In this section:

 

Import to a new scenario

1. Prepare your spreadsheet and include your custom properties

2. Click "import" or "Create a new scenario"

3. Select "CSV" from the list of options

4. Upload file

 

 

5. Ensure the mapping of existing Functionly fields is correct

6. Map custom fields by clicking "include as custom field" or using the dropdown on the modal

 

 

7. Scroll to the bottom of the "match" page and click next

8. Check for any errors and resolve if necessary

9. Click "next", "yes", "ok" to finish the import

 

 

 

10. Click "properties" menu and toggle your properties to the "on" position

 

 

Import to an existing scenario

1.a. Export a CSV of your existing scenario if necessary and your custom properties

OR

1.b. Update an existing scenario by adding your custom properties and values

2. Open the scenario you would like to update

3. Click "import people" in the left-hand menu or above the top position

4. Select "CSV" from the list of import options

5. Choose "update"

6. Click "upload file"

 

 

7. Ensure existing fields are mapped correctly

8. Click "ignore this column" for "manager"

The import process uses managers to establish reporting linesm and while selecting "update" rather than "rebuild all" means the reporting lines won't be altered, it can sometimes remove groups when managers are mapped on this step.

 

 

9. Map custom fields by clicking "include as custom field" or using the dropdown on the modal

 

 

10. Scroll to the bottom of the "match" page and click next

11. Check for any errors and resolve if necessary

12. Click "next", "yes", "ok"

 

 

13. Click "properties" menu and toggle your properties to the "on" position
